Please don’t ask me what the title MAD-ROID is supposed to mean. I’m going to translate the song at the end of this post and then maybe after that I can figure out if it’s supposed to be a name or an acronym or just plain broken English that’s supposed to sound cool but then ends up failing miserably. I don’t know about the rest of you but MAD-ROID sounds like a killer robot dog nipping at my car tires as I try to run it down.
Putting the lame title to the side, MAD-ROID actually sounds pretty cool. And this is just me focusing on the instrumental layout, not on the message of the song. I’m going to get to that in a minute, after I finish my pre-rant. Which should be wrapping up just about now.
The catchy chorus starts at about 0:52. Go Sadie!
Now people continually compare Sadie to Diru, but if I may say on my small alloted space on the Internet that every band copies every other band and the fact that they sound even remotely similar to one of the better hard rock bands out there isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I’d rather them sound like a good band with their own twist then a bad band with their own twist. And I rarely catch the references to Diru myself, and I’m an avid listener of Diru, so it really doesn’t bother me in particular. Besides, Diru steals riffs from LUNA SEA and modifies them anyway, so go complain about that and leave poor Sadie alone. They’re still trying to find their own sound.
And for all those who disagree, PMS in your Kotex and get over it.
Japanese Lyrics

Murder Freak! HAPPY DEATH DAY! Kissing me tonight.
Through it’s a story such as inside of TV.
Such a case happens among practical matter me every night.
The positive act that is the best with suicide.
English Lyrics (Some lines are inaccurate, but the overall meaning is correct)
This place of confusion shouts Are You happy?
A crowd of jestering faces
Proclaiming, close to my ear Suicide Time
Teachers joke “Oh Dear! Oh Dear!” and repeatedly
Inside a lethargic mosaic mixed with a Lost Shine
Rusted phantom dreams with a fragrance Stinky Smell
I go mad, suicide shines calmly as I contemplate the delicate death of the MAD-ROID
Smiling…
The reason you shed tears frightens reason out of things
It’s exciting…stopping these emotions
Your Excellency’s execution is incomplete, my scissors drain
Quaking…
The reason you shed tears frightens reason out of things
It’s exciting…stopping these emotions
Murder Freak! HAPPY DEATH DAY! Kissing me tonight.
Through it’s a story such as inside of TV.
Such a case happens among practical matter me every night.
The positive act that is the best with suicide.
And after review I can say that I’m not really surprised at all my the lyrics. I think MURDER FREAK tipped me off (Do I smell a D’espa lawsuit?) but yea, from someone that idolizes Kyo, I wasn’t too surprised that his lyrics would be dark, angsty, and well-written (my translation probably doesn’t accurately reflect that).
I think he’s the MAD-ROID and he’s about to go on a killing spree. I swear Mao, you can look so badass and yet you choose a name like MAD-ROID? It’s so…LAME! MAD-ROID seems to fit better than say, Terminator, even though Exterminator sounds a whole lot more badass. Well maybe he’s not exactly the killer, but he’s speaking from the point of view of the killer? In which case, the killer is lame and needs to find himself a better name.
I think Mao the Killer has a soft side underneath is rough, screamy exterior =x (Don’t kill me please…)
Now the name MAD-ROID makes sense. Maybe the MAD expresses his feelings and the ROID comes from android expressing his lack of “proper” emotions. That seems to make more sense.
Gah, it’s ten at night and I have some sleep I need to get. I have an Economics final tomorrow, and if that’s anything like the class, I’ll fall asleep more than halfway through. Not to mention I have school on top of that. Joyous, essays to write. This song will definitely be going through my head.
MAD-ROID appears on The Suicide Machine as track number 4 and UNDEAD13+2 as track number 3.
